Awards for 2010

$21,665 to the City of Cincinnati Summer Interns 2010
Purpose: To provide six graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to learn about city government while contributing to it through summer internships in various departments.

$5,000 to Youth in City Government
Purpose: To Empower and educate high school students about their local city government through a two-day conference.

$15,000 to Greater Cincinnati Public Radio, Inc. (WVXU)
Purpose: To provide in-depth exploration and meaningful coverage to local government issues and events by experienced news professionals.

$7,500 to Uptown Consortium
Purpose: To increase the staff capacity of the Neighborhoods of Uptown (NOI), allowing better community interaction.

$4,333 to the Hamilton County Office of Budget and Strategic Initiatives
Purpose: To provide a student with an opportunity to learn about the administration of local county government through an internship.

$10,000 to Citizens for Civic Renewal
Purpose: To engage Cincinnati citizens during the formation of the city budget so that they may provide input to the process.

$900 to Public Service Recognition - Cincinnati
Purpose: To recognize and honor those outstanding employees who work as public servants in and around Cincinnati.

$4,333 to Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD)
Purpose: To give a student the opportunity to begin his or her first professional experience within the public administration arena.

$15,000 to the Ohio Innocence Project
Purpose: To provide funding for an organization that engages law students to work with their professors on pro-bono cases to establish the innocence of prisoners in potential cases of mistaken identity.

$5,000 to the League of Women Voters
Purpose: To create and distribute voter informational guides so that voters are well-informed about candidates' positions on the issues.

$2,000 to Communities United for Action
Purpose: To provide funding to a program in order to train future neighborhood leaders.

$5,000 to Citizens for Civic Renewal
Purpose: To make citizens' voices heard in the City Budget Process.

$3,000 to Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (GCC-ASPA)
Purpose: To give an undergraduate or graduate student the opportunity to learn about public and governmental administration from a professional organization's perspective.

$2,000 to the Woman's City Club
Purpose: To help bring Nomi Tutu, daughter or Archbishop Desmond Tutu to Cincinnati to speak at the 17th Annual National Speaker Forum.

$9,000 to Housing Opportunities Made Equal
Purpose: To update a 2007 study that identified fourteen communities in Hamilton County which had been racially integrated for at least 20 years.

$5,000 to Pleasant Ridge Development Corporation (PRDC)
Purpose: To create a strategic plan for the Pleasant Ridge Business District to serve as a guide for the operations and initiatives of the PRDC.

$7,000 to Invest in Neighborhoods, Inc.
Purpose: To determine action steps to implement the city's new plan by engaging community activists in discussions.

$6,200 to the Urban Appalachian Council
Purpose: To provide a 40 year picture of how the metropolis, the City, and its neighborhoods have changed.
