$3000 to the Greater Cincinnati Chapter American Society for Public Administration (GCC-ASPA)
Purpose: To plan an annual public administration awards banquet to honor achievements among public sector professionals.
$6,500 to Invest in Neighborhoods
Purpose: To support the 2009 annual Neighborhood Summit to foster dialogue between community councils, business leaders, political leaders, City departments, and citizens.
$7,000 to the City of Cincinnati Human Resources Department
Purpose: To continue City Manager Milton Dohoney's "Charge for Change" by empowering managers and supervisors within City Personnel with the tools they need to become true leaders.
$4,320 to the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD)
Purpose: To provide for a public administration intern who will work to support Northern Kentucky’s local governments and non-profits I the area of public administration and development services.
$10,000 to ACORN
Purpose: To support organizing work that builds power among low-income people through leadership development focused on increasing civic participation in local and state government.
$15,000 to Ohio Justice and Policy Center
Purpose: To support a legal education program that will "institute, sustain, improve, and enlarge" the capacity of the Hamilton County Public Defender to recruit and retain staff attorney’s dedicated to the highest quality of client representation; strongly promote citizen participation and education for government reform; and enhance student awareness of, and interest in, serving as career employees in this crucial government service.
$4,320 to the Hamilton County Budget & Strategic Initiatives Office
Purpose: To provide for an opportunity for a college student to gain firsthand experience working with a county budget office.
$20,000 to the UC College of Law
Purpose: To secure release from prison for the wrongfully convicted, to demonstrate flaws in the criminal justice system, and to provide an opportunity for law students to engage in such work.
$17,500 to Cincinnati Public Radio, Inc. (WVXU)
Purpose: To support the continuation of WVXU radio news program in-depth exploration and coverage of local government issues and events by six highly experienced news professionals.
$5,000 matching grant to Ohio Citizen Action Education Fund
Purpose: To provide citizens living next to industrial facilities with knowledge, skills, practical experience, and contacts to begin or advance their won Good Neighbor campaigns.
$10,000 to the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati
Purpose: To educate area high school students in the operations of city government through experiential learning.
$10,000 to CDC Association of Cincinnati
Purpose: To create a website containing information and evaluations for regional training programs related to civic groups with interest in technical and capacity-building training sessions.
$25,000 to Northern Kentucky University
Purpose: to provide for a speaker series at Northern Kentucky University during the 2008-2009 academic year.
$21,600 to the City of Cincinnati Summer Interns 2008
Purpose: To provide five graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to learn about city government while contributing to it through summer internships in various departments
