Purpose: To carry forward what they have learned to pursue a substantial national grant which they hope will help regional civic organizations, provide citizens with the tools to effectively become and stay involved in public decisions.
$5,000 - to Environmental Law & Policy Center
Chicago, IL
Purpose: To continue providing legal, technical, policy and communications assistance to grassroots citizens groups in the Cincinnati region working to improve transportation and land use planning.
$16,500 - to WVXU/Xavier University
Purpose: WVXU is committed to the regular coverage of local government events and issues. This grant is partial funding for full-time local government news reporter.
$6,000 - to Citizens Policy Center
Purpose: A training project to educate local government officials, organizations, and residential and small business consumers in the Cincinnati region about how small electricity customers can use community choice as an effective tool in a competitive electricity market.
$7,500 - to YMCA of Greater Cincinnati
Purpose: To bring the workings of city government alive in area high school students in a series of workshops.
$750 - to Public Service Recognition
Purpose: Annual event: "A Day On Fountain Square" an annual awards ceremony for Public Service Recognition Week. 60 government employees in the Greater Cincinnati Area will be recognized for contributions to public service.
$25,000 - to Citizens for Civic Renewal
Purpose: Funding for Citizens for Civic Renewal to maintain its current staffing arrangement with the goals of promoting outreach and membership; facilitating CCR's board meetings; synthesizing information for citizens on public issues, and serving as a resource.
